Copenhagen Jazz Festival

The Copenhagen Jazz Festival is an annual event held for two weeks each summer. They say this 10-day event focusses on the Jazz like no other jazz festival. It was first organized in 1979 and has expanded to every corner of the city gaining more significance and importance in cultural life of Danish capital.

The number of concerts and performances have reached 850 in recent years. In those days daily jazz concerts take place just about anywhere – in clubs and concert halls, parks, streets,  shopping centres and even boats. Copenhagen celebrates its annual jazz festival, attracting a fantastic line-up of international performers. Anything – from experimental Scandinavian artists to international superstars – is featured here. Musicians who have performed at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival include Sonny Rollins, Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles, Michel Petrucciani, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Keith Jarrett, Dizzy Gillespie, John Scofield and many others. Though there are some exceptions that require admission, most of the concerts  are free: this is especially good for tourists who spend about 180$ per day during this festival.
