Ribe Viking Market
There is a yearly event for the Danish that is celebrated only in Ribe. The Annual Viking Market becomes a meeting place for Viking fans, locals, and tourists alike. Here, the guests can watch live performances and demonstrations of Viking weaponry, horsemanship, crafts, and more. The Ribe Viking Market serves as a reminder of how significant this region has been in terms of seafaring trade for more than 1000 years.
Ribe’s famous Viking Centre stages a reconstruction of a traditional market. Vikings from far and wide attend, just as they did 1300 years ago. Potters, comb makers and other craftsmen attend, while hundreds of stalls sell all kinds of Viking heritage.
Ribe was one of Europe’s most important trading posts and the most important in Denmark for nearly 1000 years. The Viking Museum (near to the centre) is also worth a visit and offers visitors the opportunity to explore the town in its medieval mode.
