There are countless Sommerlland parks in Denmark perfect for all ages. In Sommerlland parks you will find modern extreme rides, natural areas full of boats, horses for an ideal family fun and more. If you want to have this crazy experience and enjoy amusement park opportunities of Denmark we suggest that you take all inclusive holiday packages and have everything prepared before your visit.

The most attractive and visited Sommerlland park is Sommerlland Sjaelland located in Zealand. Your Great and memorable time is guaranteed, so freak out on your summer best holiday here. I advise you to visit this park with family and prepare a picnic basket for a joyful trip in the open and fresh air. Take a safari trip and visit 3D Western Cinema, or put on a swim outfit dive in water splashing in the biggest outdoor aqua park in Zealand. Over six pools are waiting for you to hide you from summer hot.

The large park has free parking. You have to pay only the entrance fee, which allows spending the whole day on the great rides. You will find many eating places in the park so you needn’t worry about that if you haven’t prepared a picnic basket. Don’t forget to have delicious ice-cream here and take a cup of coffee, which are popular with this park. People say different flavored ice-creams of Sommerlland Sjaelland are the tastiest ones.

The Amazon river is what you will always enjoy. There are a lot of smoking volcanoes, huge and frightening crocodiles, pirates who lie waiting for a good haul. On the other side of the park children will get a chance to ride ponies, play cowboys and shoot with harmless rifles.

When traveling to Denmark, you need to have certain essentials including reservations, important papers, travel insurance, and credit cards. You also need to learn about the climate, currency exchange rates, and interesting attractions.

Things to do in Denmark:

The Kingdom of Denmark is one of the countries in Scandinavia and consists of a large peninsula along with many islands. It is a leader in environmental preservation and is known as a friendly and fun place to visit.

A good way to start your holiday in Copenhagen is to take a canal tour. This way you can become familiar with the area and the guide will point out local attractions. The National Art Museum is a must see as it has works of art from all over Europe dating from the Renaissance. Admission to see over 3000 exhibits is free. Tivoli Gardens is the home to one of the oldest amusement parks in the entire world and has one of the few remaining wooden roller coasters.

City Hall Square, or Radhuspladsen, has a tower that gives a great view of the town. The Hans Christian Andersen statue resides there as well as the stunning Dragon Fountain.

Also worth a look is the home of author Hans Christian Andersen. The home was converted into a museum and is free to visit. You might also want to see the famous Little Mermaid statue in the harbor. One visually impressive site outside of Copenhagen is the Møns Klint or the Cliffs of Møn. The cliffs are dazzling white and drop to the blue water of the sea. No matter where you go in Denmark, you absolutely must sample the Danish pastry. You haven’t tasted Danish pastry until you get it from the place it originated.

2012 Events in Denmark

If you are planning a trip to Denmark in 2012, there are many events that would be fun. Many festivals will be well attended and you need to be prepared with identification, plenty of currency and travel insurance.

February: WonderCOOL – celebrations of music, fashion, cooking, and design

June 10-12: Copenhagen Carnival with parades, costumes and samba music

July 1-8: Roskilde Festival – rock festival

July 6-15: Copenhagen Jazz Festival

August 1-5: Copenhagen Fashion Week

September: Copenhagen Design Week

October: Night of Culture on the 12th, Copenhagen Blues Festival

November: Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival

December: Christmas in the Old Town, Christmas Market in Tivoli Gardens

Though Denmark is a small country, it still boasts of countless attractions and amazing parks, luxury hotels and world-class restaurants, which undoubtedly attract visitors to this Scandinavian miracle. But what if you don’t have enough money to visit luxury places? So what? The Danish miracle is not to necessarily be discovered in luxurious places, so consider the following cheap cafes where you can eat and enjoy a most beautiful atmosphere.

Harry’s place and tasty hotdogs

Danish people are fond of Harry’s place offering tastiest beef sausages and grilled pork. A recent Danish magazine research showed that Harry’s place is the most favorite of Copenhagen inhabitants. Not only the various sausages with different sauces call people to this place, but also the good and warm attitude you feel as you enter.

Bjorg café

If you want to dine or have something in a most cozy and homey atmosphere, go to Bjorg cafe. Designed in red, the cafe is located in the City Hall square. I advise you to sit near the window, so that you watch the hustle and bustle of the city. Chicken curry and wraps are a popular dish is Bjorg. You will also be offered various traditional and international drinks. The staff is very kind and always smiling. By the way, consider that the cafe’s not that large.

Dag H

This cafe-restaurant opens at 8am and is a great place for having breakfast with a cup of hot coffee. The best place to sit in Dag H is near the bar. On the whole, the interior is so beautifully and well decorated that I just can’t imagine anyone who will remain dissatisfied. Their lunch menu offers many choices. Despite its high quality services, the prices here are very cheap, so you will definitely not regret your visiting it. In warm and sunny weather, you can opt for Dag H’s outdoor cafe, where you can have breakfast enjoying the fresh morning or just spend a romantic evening.

The best coffee in Copenhagen

Are you fond of good and really unique flavored coffees? Here you are; the types of coffees ranging from chocolate to fruit flavored ones that the Coffee Collective offers you will amaze you. This coffee bar is situated in Norrebro district, close to Assistens Cemetery, one of the most visited parks by local residents. The bar has wooden tables and open design. One irritating thing is that you will have to stand in a very long line waiting for your turn. But you know, it’s worth waiting. I’d say this bar is one of the top destinations of most coffee lovers. So look no further, your coffee is ready!

As you see you don’t need to collect lots of money to visit and enjoy green and lively Copenhagen. Wish you unforgettable moments and lots of fun!

As Denmark’s capital city, Copenhagen is one of the top places to visit if you’re heading to this marvellous Scandinavian country.

If you’ve only got a few days for your city break, or if you’re worried about breaking the bank, it’s wise to have the low-down on what to see and do to ensure you make the most of your precious time in Copenhagen.

Rather than immediately rushing around the city, start things off in a relaxing way with a trip to the Tivoli Gardens. Designed by Georg Carstensen and opened in 1843, the Tivoli Gardens represent a vision of magic and entertainment and are laid out much like a modern theme park, with roller coasters, a huge carousel and even a replica of a pirate ship.

Another place to explore is the Glyptotek, located near to the Tivoli Gardens. The Glyptotek has subtropical gardens to wander around, while history buffs will doubtless want to check out of the collection of ancient artefacts at the site, which contains art from places such as Rome and Egypt.

Visiting a new city wouldn’t be the same without investigating what your destination offers in terms of shopping experiences. If you’re looking to pick up a few souvenirs, you could do a lot worse than head to the Strøget. This pedestrian-only area is well known in Denmark for its size and the number of retail establishments found there, with everything from huge department stores to small boutiques and cafes.

Walking is a reasonable option for getting around while you’re shopping, but if you need to make a longer journey, you’ll want to head to the Copenhagen central train station, which offers both regional and international trains to other European cities.

The harbour area of Nordhavn, meanwhile, serves as a hub for cruise liners heading to Copenhagen.

If you’d like to explore the city and its surrounds in a thoroughly green fashion, consider renting a bike. You can even join a cycling tour around the sights of Copenhagen. You can pick up a bike for no cost by heading into the city centre and grabbing one from a stand there.

Meanwhile, you can save on the cost of public transport in Copenhagen by buying a CPHCard. This card enables you to access many museums and transport such as rail and bus for free and costs roughly $37 for 24 hours or around $80 for a 72-hour card.

For many people visiting a place for the first time, sampling the culinary delights is as important as seeing the sights. Copenhagen has a great variety of restaurants and locals will often recommend their favourites.

Noma stands out thanks to its menu, which integrates drinks such as beer with local delicacies such as seaweed and Musk ox.

Told & Snaps is a reasonably priced option for those looking for a range of Danish dishes and is also known for creating its own snaps, a form of grain alcohol that’s a speciality in Denmark.

BioM, meanwhile, is a haven for organic-food fans and offers open sandwiches. Among the many varieties is the Victor Borge, which incorporates crayfish and caviar, among other things, into its filling.

While there’s plenty to keep you occupied in Copenhagen itself, you may find time to venture outside its confines. If you do, consider visiting the Frederiksborg Castle near Hillerød. This castle is a fine example of a Renaissance-era fortress and is a fascinating building to explore.

A day at the beach isn’t far away if you’re in Copenhagen and you’ll find Blue Flag beaches that are suitable for all the family at places such as the Bellevue Strandpark, some six miles from the city.

For outdoors enthusiasts, there is also the nearby Dyrehaven Park, which is an ideal destination if you want to indulge in activities such as horse riding or hiking. There are plenty of late deals available, meaning there’s no excuse to miss out on this great world-class city.

Traveling is one of the best ways to leave behind the troubles and simply have some fun. One of the best things to do while traveling is shopping. You might not buy anything at all, but you might feel absolutely relaxed (though tired) at the end of your day. Besides, it’s always interesting to compare prices or visit different shopping malls, especially if you are in a foreign country.

If you are in the shopping malls of the capital Copenhagen consider the following — from Monday to Friday the malls are open from 10.00 to 18.00 or 19.00 and on Saturday from 9.00 to 15.00. Don’t plan shopping on Sundays, because on this day only bakeries, flower and souvenir shops are open.

Copenhagen has two main and very popular shopping malls. One of them is the Fisketorvet mall, once a fish market, situated about ten minutes away from the City Hall square. It’s a very modern and interesting mall where you can find almost everything you want. Fisketorvet is blessed with 100 shops including various famous brand centers and jewelry halls, countless shoe and accessory shops and more. The opening hours are from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and on Saturday — from 10am to 4pm. There are ten cinemas in this huge center where you can have a rest and then continue your crazy shopping.

You can spend your whole day in this huge center having fun and enjoying your shopping. Before Christmas and New Year the mall is very unique and originally decorated with different items and amazing gifts. If you want to take something traditional from Denmark, here you are, in the big center with lots of souvenirs and gifts.

There is a shopping area in Copenhagen where you have to pay a visit even if you are not planning to buy anything. It’s just an attraction every Copenhagen visitor should see. Welcome to Stroget!

The prices are not shocking — you can find both cheap and expensive things here. I advise you to start your shopping day from the end of the center, as that way you are sure to find good brand clothes at rather favorable prices. Walking in Stroget you will pass along the streets Frederiksberggade, Gammel Torv, Nygade and so on. Other than that, you will have a chance to enjoy the performances of street actors accompanied by Danish music.

In a place called Kongens Nytorv you will find numerous expensive designer shops like Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton or Boss. This center is full of cafes and restaurants where you can taste delicious Danish traditional cuisine and also have exclusive drinks.

These two shopping centers are only the little part of Copenhagen’s crazy and rocking shopping life. but they are a perfect place to entertain yourself as well as buy gifts for your loved ones and have fun!

One of the most family-friendly countries in the world brightly shining in Scandinavia is waiting for you with kids. Denmark is affluent with best attractions where you can spend amazing time enjoying every minute with your family, alluring parks where children can play and have fun, many green gardens where you can organize picnics, and many more. If you plan to visit Denmark, do not miss the chance to be part of the love and joy in Bakken Park, where you will find every entertaining attraction you want, and return to your country with great memories.

One day Ms. Kirsten Pill found a green and springy place and noticed that many people come from different places to relax and enjoy nice surroundings there. That’s how the story began. Dyrehavsbakken, in short Bakken is one of the oldest parks in the world (since 1583). It’s a truly lively place, which both adults and kids will appreciate, because there are many interesting games and competitions, deluxe and usual restaurants, live music and dances. It’s the place of laugh and adventures, art and extreme, brightly shining lights and unforgettable memories.

Bakken is nestled just in the middle of the forest, in the northern part of the city, from where you can easily get to the S-train station in Klampenborg, and it is only 25 minutes from the center of Copenhagen. The entrance is free, but you have to pay for each amusement park ride. It’s not open in winter, thus if you want to try this great experience, you have to visit it in spring. The park is open from March until the end of August.

In 1669 the King of Denmark decided to establish his royal hunting-grounds here and now almost 2000 bucks and deer can still be found here, hereby if you are in search of a real hunting experience, you don’t need to wait till March; on November a very famous Hubertus hunt starts.

In Bakken you can try football and handball, 5D movies and race-cars. You can also buy a picnic-basket in restaurants or have a romantic tour in the park with a horse carriage admiring the glaring view of the nature. There are various crazy and rocking rides; starting from fast and adventurous to turning the whole world upside down, which will make you go crazy. More than 30 games and competitions are organized. If you are fond of noisy and lively atmosphere, different bars welcome you to dance and listen to live music.

You will definitely appreciate the cabaret show in Bakkens-Hvile: the only original music hall in Denmark. The original atmosphere and colorful cabaret show will take you to another world.

This is the place where people feel the Danish soul and culture and find themselves in a miracle of thousands of lights and adventures. Welcome to Bakken, the old fairytale of Denmark!

Denmark is known as the happiest nation on Earth. And as far as the country enjoys a mild, temperate climate, the delights of a holiday in Denmark can be had all year round. Denmark is especially beautiful in winter, when light streams from the illuminated high streets, when many cafes and comfy country inns open their doors to warm your frozen hands and when even the historical amusement park Tivoli Gardens welcomes shopping enthusiasts to its magic Christmas market in the heart of Copenhagen.

From unwinding in the history of this spectacularly beautiful country of scattered islands, fascinating landscapes and people of such hospitality, to spending pleasant evenings with hot cocoa and candles in front of the fireplace, to pampering yourself with delicious meals, winter in Denmark is much more than this!!!

While planning a winter holiday in Denmark, do not forget to take advantage of travel insurance online, which will help you to compare and choose appropriate quotes at cost effective prices. Here are some of the most famous things-to-do you can enjoy during your winter holiday in Denmark.

Christmas Market at Tivoli Gardens

If you are interested in how Christmas is celebrated in Denmark, the Christmas Market in the Tivoli Gardens is a wonderful prelude to winter holidays. A regular time-honored amusement park on ordinary days, this famous tourist spot in Copenhagen becomes a festive area, filled with hundreds of Christmas trees and thousands of twinkling lights, sweet treats for sale and most of all with a fairytale atmosphere. Visitors will find over 60 brightly decorated stalls selling everything from traditional Danish wooden dolls to local porcelain, local crafts, delicacies, mouth-watering culinary delights, Xmas decorations and so on. Christmas in Tivoli is always buzzing with life and there is a world of beautiful scenery, gorgeous restaurants and fun shopping!

Christmas Town in Horsens

While the stunning Tivoli Gardens has its own version of winter wonderland, there is another part of Denmark, which you should visit every December if you dream about a real Christmas experience. The place to remember is the enchanting Horsens Christmas Town. Here all sorts of Christmas shopping for presents, ornaments, and savory treats can be found. The town teems with small and colorful wooden houses with a variety of Christmas decorations. Horsens also holds various cultural and entertainment events every year, including the Children’s Theater Festival, the Music Festival and the European Medieval Festival. So, make your vacation special…

Go for a Christmas Beer in Copenhagen

To add to the spirit of Christmas, you can go for a Christmas beer if you are tired of hot wine at the Christmas markets. Christmas beer is called ‘Julebryg’ and is only sold at Christmas time. The beer is a bit darker and stronger with nearly 6 % alcohol. Do not miss out the great event of the first heavy Christmas beer being launched in Copenhagen. According to the Danish Brewers’ Association, Denmark has the most breweries per capita than anywhere else in the world.

A trip or two is definitely not enough to visit all the attractions this majestic country has to offer, however, be sure to enjoy the traditions and rich culture that the Danish have to share!

Denmark is the land of thousand smiles and fun, where you can relax especially with family and make your time memorable. This happy and lovely country, affluent with many green parks and attractions, amazing museums and theaters, is not only beautiful, but also full of hospitable people, always happy to greet you in their lively kingdom. So it’s a perfect place to isolate from the whole world and admire the great beauty of this tiny country.

Do you fancy spending your vacations in a really good place with lots of fun? Look no further; sunny beaches of Denmark are waiting for you!

Lively Amager beach

Amager beach, situated on the east coast of Amager Island, is very close to green Copenhagen; just 3.1 miles from the city-center. Thus, if you stay in the capital, you will surely enjoy going there by bicycle and leave it in a special place for almost 5000 bicycles. The beach has also a parking lot for 300 cars.

In this unique getaway you can enjoy the beach life and admire the glaring view of the Nature. It’s a long beach (2.8mi) and is divided into two parts. One of them is the island connected to the mainland with three wooden bridges; from where the Swedish coast scene is seen. The other is an old beautiful beach running along Amager Strandvej.

Even if you don’t wish to swim, you can take a book to read or organize a crazy picnic with friends playing football or volleyball. It’s also a great place for jogging and surfing. Moreover, if you are with kids, you can spend your time playing on the soft beach and making sand houses together. Your kids will appreciate a nice lagoon situated between the mainland and the island, where the water is shallow, so you can be quiet for your child while he is swimming. I believe it’s interesting to know Amager Beach has been awarded with “Blue Flag,” which means the protection of the environment and the safety of the people is dominant here.
