There are many destinations in Denmark, which though simple are very attractive for those who are in search of isolation and just an ordinary vacation. Those places are situated very close to the busy cities but at the same time are very far from their usual life. Welcome to Dyssekilde!

Dyssekilde is situated near the Torup village. It represents an ecological society; a dream place for numerous people. This Eco-village with its organic life is not blessed with restaurants, shopping centers and other places, which are the characteristic of big cities.

During the first hours of your visit you will already start feeling some positive changes in your organism. It will not only have an influence on your physiology but will also provide energy to your body. The best option to get to the village is by train. It’s safe and quick.

The village was founded twenty-five years ago and as many similar places, it also lacks cars. The initial aim of creating this place was to establish a vegetarian and spiritual village but presently, the focus is more on a shared foundation of beliefs and values. One shop you will definitely find there, is the gift shop, offering various souvenirs and traditional items.

People living in this village have various backgrounds and reasons. On the whole, they are very hospitable and are always ready to show you to many places and tell the story of the village. One thing they all have in common is they all want to protect the ecology and wildlife.

The village will not only positively affect your body but will also shape your way of thinking; what you will see there will beyond a shadow of doubt make you change your attitude towards the surrounding world. you might even feel you have become kinder and n more caring and careful to everything and everyone around you. In this regard, I wish every person visited this village at least once in their lives, because what you will learn there will never be wasted, and you will return to your busy city life with one very beautiful goal — to make your own contribution to the preservation of nature and wildlife.

Hippy area of Denmark — this is how we can call the famous Freetown of Christiana. Still 40 years ago no one could imagine this place would become this visited. Presently hippy style lovers are not the only people that will be found there. The self-governing neighborhood of Danish green and lively capital Copenhagen is the place where people live freely.

Established in 1971 this amazing and extraordinary place used to be one of the city parts. It was then taken over by the locals and turned into a children playground, which at that time was a serious protest against the Danish government.

Christiania became a small state within a state governed by its own laws where all people are free to express their feelings and ideas. On September 26, 1971, popular journalist Jacob Ludvigsen proclaimed Christiania “the land of the settlers.”

A small country in the big country — that’s what Christiania, the lonely planet of Denmark, is. The entrance of the town features an interesting welcome note with the words “You are now entering EU.” As you enter, you will momentarily feel the shift form an ordinary world to a world where the hippy culture dominates. If you walk to Pusher Street you will find a lot of people drugging themselves and selling drugs openly, and that’s what they call freedom. Don’t waste your time on trying to make photos there as photo-shooting is strictly prohibited there.

Almost all buildings have unique gratify style paintings on them and each painting stands for some reason and tells its story. Being the second tourist attraction in Copenhagen it’s a bit dangerous place because with the lack of law, it’s hard to keep discipline, that’s why many Danes consider Christiania a place full of crime and drugs.

Note that the inhabitants of Christiania are lovers of yoga and meditation, so there are people who indeed love healthy lifestyle. To me Christiania appears as a place where the creativity is on the highest top.

Christiania has its own flag, which is red with three yellow circles on it. The color choice has its explanation — they say when the original squatters took over the former military base they found red and yellow paint there. There is also a souvenir shop where you can buy many hippy style things and though Danish Krone is accepted here, Christiania has its own currency, Lon. The Freetown has its own local TV and radio named Christiania TV and Radio.

Each year over one million people visit Christiania, which has become the third best tourist attraction in Denmark. I firmly advise you and at the same time I straonly believe you just have to visit this amazing place. The emotions will be unforgettable I guarantee.

Although the fashionable shopping centers, the alluring gardens and the cultural venues of Copenhagen are always sure to capture a tourist’s attention, they are not the first places you should visit, especially when Copenhagen belongs to those cities, which has much to offer and much to surprise with. In this regard, take my hand, and let’s visit Slotsholmen, one of the most outstanding places in Copenhagen.

The geographical and cultural heart and soul of Copenhagen was founded in 1167 by Bishop Absalon. It then became the base of the future city. Slotsholmen is an island in the center of Copenhagen, and its English name is Castle Island. This island is the nestle of the Danish capital and the location of the parliament. The surroundings are quite calm and peaceful, the restaurants and bars are world-class, therefore I suggest that you visit and try one of the traditional Danish dishes.

Archeologists say Slotsholmen grounds can reveal much about the history of the city because the area on which the island is located has been the power center of Danish Kingdom for many years, especially in medieval times. Numerous bridges connect the island to the city. Initially, the island didn’t have the present-day size. It’s been changed for many times.

Not only the Parliament but also the Supreme Court and Folketinget are situated in Slotsholmen. Opposite the palace you will see Christian IX on his horse protecting the royal palace from everyone. You will also enjoy the amazing garden located in front of the royal library. This little heaven provides everything for tranquility and isolation, so you will definitely enjoy it especially if you appear there in summer. There are various museums on the island and the most renowned is Thorvaldsen Museum with its awe-inspiring sculptures of Danish artists. Other museums worth visiting are Royal Arsenal Museum and Court Theater Museum. Visiting the church of the island is a must. It’s one of the most visited places, hereby don’t hesitate visiting the small miracle.

Walking around Slotsholmen will give you a great opportunity to admire the glaring view of the scenery. While there I wished I were a painter to depict all that beauty on a canvas to keep it alive. But now I am sure my memory will hardly ever forget that.

Again sitting with that map in front of you and trying to decide on where to go? It’s always annoying as our world is blessed with most beautiful places. So just put it aside and follow my advice — visit Moen Island in Denmark. Connected to Zealand by beautiful bridges Moen Island enjoys the amazing surroundings of Denmark and warmly welcomes everyone. The English name of the Mon Island is Moen, and it covers about 218 square km area in the Baltic Sea. Moen Island, which also includes several small islands such as Fago, Nyord, Bogo and Lango, is inhabited by more than 46,000 people. The largest town of the island is Stege. It was once a merchant town.

The sea border island has prepared much for you, so you will hardly get bored there. It offers numerous water activities, natural venues and fishing. Moen provides an alluring and breathtaking view of the Nature and many people who are not fond of active holidays, prefer to sit and admire the panoramic scenery and shoot the best photos ever. Those who are fond of activities can go for bicycling, horse riding, swimming, golf and canoeing.

Don’t miss the sunny and majestic beaches along the coastline of Moen Island. They are one of the best in Denmark. You will totally enjoy the White Cliffs of Moen, or Moens Klint which is about 5000 years old. This part is very famous for its different types of amateur birds (providing great rest especially during afternoons), original trees and plants. It also provides the best communication with Nature.

Don’t hesitate visiting old manor houses in Moen and churches, which stand there as a historical evidence. They have been there for hundreds of years, so don’t you think they can tell the story of Denmark better than any human? Visitors especially enjoy the Elmelunde Church, which is more than 800 years-old and is the oldest one in the whole island. Don’t forget to visit several museums too. The most renowned ones are the Empiregaarden Museum and the Smykke Museum showing jewelry and crafts. There are also many prehistoric monuments to explore.

This Island seems to be part of this world and yet so isolated from it. It’s absolutely cut from the busy and crowded life of big cities. So decide on your goal. If you need some peace and harmony head to Moen Island.

Denmark is not only the Kingdom of ancient history and awe-inspiring castles, happy people and lively atmosphere, but also the richest Kingdom of Flowers. Exactly in this tiny country you will find the largest flower park, the Kingdom of Flowers called Jesperhus! I greet you here and wish you as many breathtaking emotions as once I felt in this huge world of most beautiful flowers.

The Park is situated in majestic Legind Bjerge south of Nykobing. When you enter this miraculous and supernatural park you will never even think that once it was a small family garden and just due to its attentive and flower loving owners it became a dreamplace. Jesperhus Blomsterpark as Danish used to call it, has grown and has become larger over many years and today everybody can find inspiration there and enjoy the amazing dance of flowers looking at you with their shy and bright eyes.

Jesperus houses millions of unbelievably extraordinary colored flowers, various cactus and palms, roses and more. Roses are nestled in the spectacular garden named “Rosenhaven.” Afterwards, it’s a must to visit the fairytale garden of H. C. Andersen created by means of flowers. You will find the alluring butterfly land where you can admire the colorful butterflies and terrarium. There is also a bird zoo with incredible and unique bird types. The flower park consists of three parts including the zoo with tropical animals called jungle zoo where the children and why not adults can crawl from trunk to trunk, or jump from stone to stone and do many other crazy things. The second part boasts of architectural wonders like sculptures, incredible waterfalls and animal figures. In the third part you will have fun and enjoy the merry-go-rounds and bouncers.

The total area of the park is 8 hectares, so don’t expect to see only gardens of thousands of flowers and different zoos, because the park is also blessed with holiday cottages perfect for a family vacation, water complex and cabins, as well as family tents and camping sites.

Are you in search for adventurous moments and extreme? Then don’t hesitate visiting the 4D cinema.

The Jesperhus Flower Park is open from 10 am. It closes at different hours depending on the season. Prices are not very expensive. For adults it will cost DKK 175, while for kids and seniors DKK145. Notably, for groups of 15 people the price is DKK 120. Only kids who are under three years can enter the park without any fee! If you want to book the tickets in advance you have to enter the website of Jesperhus Flower Park. Go and experience the “park- heaven” of great surprises and family-friendly atmosphere, give yourself a chance to be in a fairytale!

The luxurious halls and world-class ballrooms embellished with incredible and original decorations, which once served as summer home for the Danish King Christian IV, are now museums for the public. The King often stayed at Rosenborg when residing in Copenhagen, and died there in 1648. After his death, his son King Frederik III inherited the palace. Together with his Queen, Sophie Amalie he carried out several modernizations. Frederik IV was the last king to reside in the palace.

The museum houses various cultural treasures so you will get acquainted with not only Danish but also international wonders here. Royal jewelry, bear glasses and even baby shoes perfectly preserved till our days cn be found there. Though the castle is not one of the largest in Denmark it certainly is one of the most busiest always abundant with tourists and visitors.

The Long Hall is one of the most popular parts of the castle situated on the 3rd floor. It was originally the ballroom and in around 1700s it was used as Royal Reception Room and for banquets. Only in the second half of the 19th century it became popular as the Knights Hall.

During summertime you will have a chance to enjoy different musical events and theater performances in the alluring pink garden. This garden is called King’s garden and is the oldest royal garden in the whole Denmark established in the Renaissance style by King Christian IV in 1606. Each year the garden houses over 2,5 million visitors and it’s very popular among not only inhabitants but also the tourists. This green miracle covers a very big area and is blessed with small fountains and statues standing like the keepers of the majestic territory. For the public the garden was opened in the 1770s. If you visit Denmark with children, this place will be loved by them too, because puppet theater for children is organized during summer. Other than that, it’s an amazing place for walking and why not, even a romantic date.

What do people need for a good vacation? Lively atmosphere, new surroundings, high accommodation options, cultural and historical places to visit and explore, new acquaintances and of course, new emotions. Hotels and hostels have always been one of the major places to stay, but currently more and more people opt for a good and affordable holiday apartment. We have already discussed a number of most beautiful places to visit in Denmark, but the number of places we have already talked about doesn’t make up even half of the places worth to visit during your visit. A bigger list of places is yet to be covered. Today we’ll go through Aqua Freshwater Aquarium and see what it is, what it has to offer and why it is popular with tourists.

AQUA Freshwater Aquarium

AQUA Freshwater Aquarium of Denmark is the largest freshwater aquarium in Europe. It’s a first class activity and adventure center located in extensive and majestic nature grounds bordering the lakes in Silkeborg and Gudenaa River. This original and extraordinary alluring aqua place houses artificial lakes with side viewing glasses, which simulate typical lake ecosystems in Denmark. Here you will find four various environments, which include an interesting combination of pieces and each of those has its name: the polluted lake, the healthy lake, the typical Danish stream and the night environment. AQUA also has a great nature park with different animals and extensive playground with lots of fun and variety. This aquarium is built into several big outdoor lakes, which are seen from the large window panes, so you can just stand and admire the breathtaking view from the window.

Interestingly, this freshwater aquarium has much to offer nightlife lovers too. This AQUA huge center has a night aquarium to dive in. It’s a great alternative to discos and bars. I can’t imagine a person refusing to spend at least several hours of his vibrant nightlife in this heaven.

You can also take part in countless thematic exhibitions organized here. You will have a unique opportunity to visit touch tank where you can touch the fish and follow its behavior. Other than that, there are specialized aquaria, cinema and services for schools with school rooms and laboratories.

Visit AQUA center with your family members because there are a lot of activities for your children. The family-friendly atmosphere with different activities will keep your mood as high as possible. Meet AQUA zookeepers and join them in feeding the inhabitants of this water land. They will also tell you about the magic life of the Danish lakes and water streams; it’s really very interesting. The Center has even a daily program, which includes animal feeding.

The AQUA center promises more fascinating and glamor shows in 2012 guarantying to make your time ideal and fill your life with happiness and smiles. What else can an AQUA center offer to make your visit memorable? I believe everything is already provided, there is only one thing missing — and it’s you!

A dream for every child, a place where there are countless amazing heroes from different cartoons and movies, little boxes to put together and create a masterpiece; that’s LEGOLAND. Many children in the world don’t even know their popular Lego lives in a big city with its friends, where everything is made from Lego. Hereby we suggest that you make a wonderful surprise for your children and take them to Denmark where the city of LEGO is waiting for them to explore. The family-friendly atmosphere will be perfect both for you and your children. So let’s explore the land of fascinating miracles together!

When in 1949 a carpenter from a small town of Jutland produced the bricks that we call LEGO people could hardly imagine they would have such big success throughout the world. In 1968 already the first LEGOLAND opened in Billund, Denmark and this fairytale place is situated almost three km away from Billund Airport. Originally the park started as an exhibition of houses and landmarks from around the world all built from LEGO bricks, and now it has over 58 million LEGO bricks with many moving vehicles also made from LEGO.

Here in the land of LEGO you will not only enjoy the fashionable buildings of bricks but also make various rides, visit water parks with their great green surroundings, watch 3D movies and more. If you plan to visit this park you have to take into account that Denmark is not considered a warm country even in summer, hereby we suggest that you be ready for weather surprises. There are also many different ways to get the visitors wet, so there are many surprises waiting for you.

Over the years the Billund Park has added many new sections, which have become permanent fixtures within the park. One of the most majestic parts of the park is Miniland, which is the original section opened in 1968. The heart of LEGOLAND has over 20 million LEGO bricks. Miniland has also safari section where people are given a great opprotunity to take rides and meet animals which are from LEGO. Curious children even can take lessons at school of Miniland and learn how to drive and even earn their driving license.

One of the most mysterious sections of the park is called Knights Kingdom and it presesnts medieval times with a huge castle but the castle is not made from LEGO bricks because it’s really very big and has large area. But there are almost one million colorful LEGO pieces.

LEGO City is a modern age city in miniature. There are a couple of rides in the ‘City,’ and the most impressive one is the Power Builder Robot where you go up, down, turn and twist in every which way. You can actually program your own ride if you wish.

You are in search of adventures and dangers? Here in Pirateland you will find what you need. It is basically a water park with numerous pirates and has very few things to do with LEGO. There are different rides that include Pirate Wave Breaker and many games connected with water and pirates. Here you can even participate in Pirate War and see the sea battle.

There are many other sections in this park waiting for you to explore and if you are looking for a great vacation with family in a fabulous atmosphere, don’t hesitate visiting LEGOLAND, the best place fir children!

Denmark is the smallest Scandinavian country, although considered by many to be the best for families on holiday. It is a wonderful country whose people are both welcoming and relaxed. It is also a very family-friendly place for locals and visitors alike, even within the busy cities.

A beautiful country, Denmark is a place that should be explored thoroughly to truly appreciate all that it has to offer. However, you might find that no amount of time here is ever enough. Its highlights include clean beaches, green forests and open spaces, a rich history and a love of art and culture.

Consider booking a hotel in Copenhagen, the country’s lively capital city, where you can visit two of the biggest attractions for families of all ages. Start by visiting the old port district of Nyhavn, where just a short stroll from the main cruise pier you will see the monument of the Little Mermaid.

Though the monument itself is tiny – the mermaid is only 4 feet tall – it is one of Copenhagen’s biggest draws and can be reached on foot or by a cruise boat. Unveiled back in 1913, the statue was based on the memorable tale by Hans Christian Anderson.

One tip worth remembering if you are a keen photographer is to be careful how you angle your camera. If you photograph the mermaid from her left side, you will have the rather unattractive Holmen district as a backdrop.

Before you move on from Copenhagen, make sure you dedicate some time to visiting the Tivoli. This large complex is made up of a number of attractions so you are sure to find something to suit the whole family.

With a hotel, concert hall and stunning gardens, there is plenty to do here. For the more sedate, a stroll around the gardens will make for a tranquil afternoon and when you get peckish you can choose from one of the many restaurants found here.

There are also many white-knuckle rides at the Tivoli amusement park and lots of smaller, fun rides for the younger visitors too. Just make sure you buy a multi-ride ticket so that you or your children can revisit your favourite rides again and again.

If you are staying at the hotel, or somewhere nearby, consider going to one of the many shows that are held here. The concert hall hosts performances of theatre, ballet and live music.

Legoland in Billund is an attraction that will please visitors of all ages, but especially the kids. It is the original Legoland, which opened back in 1968 and almost everything is built with the tiny Lego bricks.

It is open from late March to early October, with longer hours during the warmer weather. Make sure you give yourself enough time, though, as there is a lot to see and do.

If you are interested in history, head to the magnificent Kronborg Castle near Helsingor. It is one of Denmark’s most impressive buildings, with a rich history that dates back to medieval times.

Thought to be the inspiration for the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the castle is positioned on a small strip of water in between Sweden and Denmark. In medieval times, this made it the perfect place for regulating the ships passing through.

Finally, don’t miss out on the lovely island of Bornholm. This gorgeous little island is found just east of Denmark and is also known as the ‘pearl of the Baltic’.Take a flight to the island or visit by ferry to explore the island. If you’re active, there is plenty to see and do here, from discovering the beautiful architecture dating back to the 1800s to exploring the cycle paths and coastal walkways.

The island is easy to get to by either ferry or plane and once here you will find everything easily reachable by either bike, bus or one of the many island taxis.
